The Challenge

While some love stories are written in the stars, this one was built over nearly three decades of shared life, commitment, and a successful small business in Australia. Our client, a Papua New Guinea national, has shared a life with her husband - a British national and Australian Permanent Resident - for almost 27 years.

The challenge was not proving the existence of the relationship, but strategically documenting nearly thirty years of history to meet the Department of Home Affairs' rigorous evidentiary standards. After entering a de facto relationship in the late 90s and marrying in 2008, the couple needed a formal migration pathway that reflected the true depth of their lifelong bond.

Our Strategy

Following the successful grant of the husband’s Resident Return Visa (Subclass 155) in July 2024, the team at Australian Migration Agents (AMA) shifted focus to securing long-term certainty for his wife. We adopted a meticulous approach to documentation and storytelling:

  • Comprehensive 27-Year Documentation: We didn't just submit a marriage certificate; we articulated the emotional depth and shared future of the couple through a lifetime of evidence.

  • Strategic Relationship Narrative: Our team drafted comprehensive statements and meticulously prepared evidence to prove the bond was both genuine and ongoing.

  • Bypassing the Waiting Period: By presenting a "decision-ready" application that demonstrated the long-term nature of the relationship, our strategy was designed to move straight to Permanent Residency.

The Outcome

The results were outstanding. By providing the Department with a clear and well-evidenced application from the start, we secured a "double grant". This successfully bypassed the usual two-year waiting period between temporary and permanent stages.

In just 15 months, the couple achieved the permanent residency they deserved, allowing them to focus on their family and Australian small business with total peace of mind.
